We Lift Up Our Praise
©2006 Gregory Stephen Popp
We praise You in life
We praise You in death
We praise You with love
In song without end
We lift up our hearts
We lift up our hands
We lift up our lives
Before You we stand
All hail our God, let worship ring
All praise the Father, now we sing
All honor give to Jesus our King
We lift up our praise
We lift up our praise
You give us Your life
You give us Your love
You give us Your grace
Like rain from above
Your body is life
So Your precious blood
We join now as one
With our living God

Greg's Story
Are you a fair weather friend to God? Do you remember to thank Him when things are going well or do you forget about Him until things are going very badly?
When my friend, Chris, passed away, it felt like things were going very badly indeed. Yet, somehow, I was filled with a sense of gratitude to God for allowing me the chance to have such a friend in this life - even for what seemed to me to be a very short time. I wanted to praise Him because of the comfort He gave me in knowing that Chris was safe at last with Him after such a long battle with cancer.
It seemed very strange to me at the time that I should be feeling this way, but after reading scripture, it seems this is a very natural and good thing to do. To praise God in our troubles and in our joys.
But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting? The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law: but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
-1 Corinthians 15:54-57
- God, I praise your promise
- in you I trust, I do not fear. What can mere mortals do to me?
- I have made vows to you, God; with offerings I will fulfill them,
- Once you have snatched me from death, kept my feet from stumbling, That I may walk before God in the light of the living.

-Psalm 56: 11-14
