Let It Be Done
Gregory Stephen Popp ©2007
Matthew 1:20-23, 26:37-39, 28:1-9
Luke 1:26-38, 22:39-42, 24:1-9
Another day
Breaks the shadows of the night
A lovely maid
Tells an angel of The Light
“Let it be done, Let it be done”
A lonely man
Dreams that he will have a son
The perfect Lamb
To take the wrongs that we have done
“Let it be done, let it be done”
Let it be done,
Let it be done,
Let it be done to me
Thy will be done,
Thy will be done
Thy will be done in me
Another night
In the garden and undone
He prays he might
Pass this cup, but loyal son:
“Let it be done, let it be done”
Another day
Breaks the terrors of the night
Roll away
The stone and look upon The Light
Thy mercy won, thy will is done.
Another day
Breaks the terrors of the night

Greg's Story
Here was a first try at what later became "The Arc". I intended to write a song honoring Our Blessed Mother, but it "morphed" into something different.
The common theme that runs through the "scenes" of this song is "obedience". Saying "yes" to God when He asks something of us. Mary's "yes" ushered in the era of the new covenant. Joseph's "yes" allowed Jesus to grow and mature into his ministry. And our Lord's "yes", expressed so poignantly in the garden and on Calvary, won for each and every one of us nothing less than salvation. |
