Your Part
Gregory Stephen Popp ©2007
This is the curtain call
Act 2: After the fall
The stage was set for us
The story: Glorious
Take one unblemished lamb
Take two: and He’s born as a man
Take three: He died for thee
Take four: Death no more and you live for eternity
Are you ready? (Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!)
Are you faithful? (Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!)
Are you ready?
Go play the part: Priest, prophet, king
Go play the part: A fool or anything
Don’t wait here in the wings
Step out and play your part
Cast in the role to serve
But have you got the nerve
To stand where all can see
And proclaim in His name that the Truth has set you free?
Are you ready? (Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!)
Are you faithful? (Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!)
Are you ready?

Greg's Story
This was another Luke 18 theme, "Play Your Part", and I was asked to write the theme song.
This would be my second song with a theatrical theme. (See: The Movie on our first CD).
I did want to make this more of a "live performance" idea and so likened our daily lives to a stage play more than a film. (yes, it's not at all an original idea). St. Paul tells us we are baptized as priest, prophet and king. These three parts are the roles we need to play in our lives. We have to be brave enough to stand out on that stage of life and unashamedly brand ourselves as "Jesus Freaks" or "bible thumpers". Trust me, it's really not a bad thing to be labeled one of those! I take pride in it.
