Hangin By A Thread
Words and music: Gregory Stephen Popp
White hot, it burns inside me
A need so strong
Without Your love to guide me
I’m wrong
One touch could clean the leper
One Hand can heal
Your love can pull me together
So real
When I’m hangin by a thread
And my faith is almost dead
When I’ve cried my eyes to red
At Your feet I lay my head
When I’m hangin by a string
It doesn’t really mean a thing
If I hang from the hem
Of the robe of the King of Kings
Our bodies bent and broken
Our lives so fleet
We lay our burdens down at Your feet
You say Your yoke is easy
Your burden light
But it’s hard to live through
The dead of the night
I need you now
I need you now
One touch of Your robe
Can save me. |
Greg's Story
Even though I'm in my early forties, I still like to "rock out" now and then. If Mick Jagger can still do it, I guess I can too.
This song speaks to the hardships we've all got to endure in this life. Nobody said it was going to be easy, but sometimes it seems like the whole world is crashing down around us. I know I've had those moments. The account of the sick woman in the bible that touched the hem of Jesus' garment (Matthew 9: 20-22) always inspired me. Her own faith that He could heal her is what healed her. My own faith, still aspiring to be one one-hundredth of a mustard seed, is bolstered by that story. Even if I'm hanging on and at the end of my rope, I know I'm going to be okay if Jesus is at the other end of that rope. He will never let me go - and that keeps me hanging on. |
